*About Joy Connell
Joy Connell is an emerging visual artist based in the southern Brisbane suburbs. She recently retired from a long nursing career to pursue her love of painting. Sketching and painting throughout her life, Joy’s natural talent has been enhanced by attending workshops and residencies over the last 4 years.
Her heart and soul go into every painting she creates. Her intricate, colourful and detailed work invites viewers to explore the beauty of flowers or the gently flowing abstracts inspired by the Australian Eucalypts. She works in a realistic style using acrylic and oil mediums. “The environment in which we live is so fragile and sadly, in today’s world, it hangs in a precarious balance. I want my art to remind people that we need to care for our beautiful world. It is unique, precious and irreplaceable”
Joy’s work has been exhibited around the Brisbane and Perth, won awards and commendations and been bought by a prestigious hotel chain. Her art is found in homes in the UK, Australia and Germany. She has also raised money for charity through sales of her artwork.
